Jake Donovan involved in ugly incident at Pizza Parlor
Early this afternoon it was reported that DEFIANCE wrestler Jake Donovan, a fan favorite noted for his face paint and daredevil risks in the ring, was involved in a heated verbal confrontation with a fan at Big Pie Pizza in New Orleans. Donovan, who was eating alone in a far corner of the restaurant, was approached by a young fan who reportedly asked for his autograph. It was reported that Jake spent several minutes talking and laughing with the youngster before asking one of the waitresses for a pen and signing the child’s DEFIANCE hat. The young fan returned to his family and soon exited the restaurant, while witnesses say Donovan returned his attention to his meal only to be interrupted minutes later by another patron who’d witnessed the whole exchange.
The man reportedly demanded an autograph from Donovan who politely declined and asked the man to respect his privacy and allow him to finish his lunch in peace. At that point the customer reportedly got loud and belligerent with Donovan, accusing him of ignoring his fans and being a failure as a wrestler. Donovan was reported to have called the man pushy and rude, before the local man was asked by management to return to his seat. It seemed for a moment that the situation had been diffused, however witnesses said that the patron walked several feet away, snatched up a half-full pitcher of beer, and once more approached Donovan, this time upending the pitcher over the young DEFIANCE wrestler’s head.
A nearby waitress stated: “That wrestler, he just sat there a moment and everyone got real quiet, then he stood and took out his wallet, he paid his tab and handed his waitress a twenty dollar bill, thanked her for the meal, apologized for the mess, and left the restaurant, the rowdy drunk taunting him the entire way.”
While we have been unable to reach Donovan for comment, we were able to get the following remarks from a patron who was sitting near him at the restaurant.
“I don’t see why he didn’t just sign something for that man and be done with it. People pay their hard earned money to go see guys like him, he wouldn’t even have a job if it weren’t for normal, everyday folks and he best not ever forget that. The way I see it he got what was coming to him, maybe next time he won’t be so uppity when approached by a fan.”
More to come as more information becomes available.
