Parents Groups upset with Donovan?
Since Grindhouse 14 there has been a buzz going around the internet that various parents groups are furious with the use of the word “jackass” by Defiance wrestler Jake Donovan. While it is a far cry from being the most offensive word used on Defiance programming, many parents felt that hearing it come from a young man who volunteers his time mentoring children set a poor example for the kids that look up to the painted wrestler. When asked about his profanity usage, Donovan had the following to say:
“My response to Curtis Penn was in the heat of the moment. From day one I have tried to be a good role model for the kids who come to our shows. I know that some families find our programming too volatile and offensive for their children and I would hate to think that I, in any way, contributed to that belief. I apologize for not being more conscientious of my words, I allowed frustration to get the better of me and that is not a good example to set. I hope that my fans will forgive me and understand that I am just as human as anyone else and I make mistakes. I still feel that Penn is exactly what I described him as being, but I do regret that there were children who heard me use that word. I promise to refrain from using that sort of language in the future.”
There has been no response yet from parents groups in regards to Donovan’s apology, but we will keep you updated should more information has been received.
